City Council dealing with a full agenda

Hamilton, ON, Canada / AM900 CHML

Another busy city council meeting is underway with a victory for Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo.

In a vote of 11-to-5, it has been granted an exemption from the Responsible Pet Ownership By-law.

That will conditionally allow it to bring back and display a number of crocs and big snakes that were removed several months ago.

The exemption is conditional on Little Rays receiving its pending accreditation from Canada Zoos and Aquariums.

A proposed gateway sign to be placed along the 403, entering Hamilton from Burlington, at a cost of 230 thousand dollars is heading back to committee after a 9-7 vote — The goal is to find ways to ease the impact on taxpayers, possibly through partnerships.

Councillor Merulla’s attempt to place a moratorium on the LRT debate, until after next month’s provincial election, is also likely to stir up emotions this evening.
