Don’t stick a fork in the bleu, blanc et rouge just yet.
The Montreal Canadiens are right back in the East Final after a dramatic 3-2 overtime win over the New York Rangers last night.
And much of the credit is going to Montreal’s young players, namely Dustin Tokarski and Alex Galchenyuk.
Tokarski made 35 saves for the win while Galchenyuk scored the overtime winner that cut New York’s series lead to 2-1.
Game 4 goes Sunday at Madison Square Garden.
Game 3 could have been over in the first period if it were not for Tokarski, who was the Hamilton Bulldogs #1 netminder this year.
The Rangers outshot the Habs 14-4 in the first frame, but could only manage 1 goal.
The Habs tied the game in the 2nd period and took the lead with 3 minutes to play in regulation, before a flukey goal by the Blueshirts with 28.1 seconds to go sent the game to sudden death.
Tokarski needed to make just 1 stop in OT before Galchenyuk ended the game at the other end of the ice.
The victory not only gives Montreal new life in the series, it also guarantees the series will go back to the Bell Centre.
The Habs got the virtual must win last night… and are much more confident they can tie up the Rangers on Sunday.
