Hamilton homes converting to neighbourhood mailboxes

Canada Post will stop door-to-door mail delivery to more than 36-thousand Hamilton homes next spring.

Residents in six postal codes across the Mountain and Stoney Creek will be switched over to neighbourhood mailboxes.

The affected postal codes are L8J, L8T, L8V, L8W, L9A and L9C.

Affected homeowners will receive an information package in the mail, offering them a chance to weigh in on where they want the mailboxes located.

Canada Post will be installing the neighbourhood mailboxes across the country over the next five years.

About 76-thousand homes that have been built since the 1980s in Hamilton already use neighbourhood mailboxes.
