The Hamilton Tiger-Cats were blown out in their second and final preseason game losing 41-23 to the Toronto Argonauts at Varsity Stadium in Toronto.

Hamilton would open the scoring on a 40 yard field goal from Justin Medlock but the Argos quickly answered with Ricky Ray tossing a 27 yard touchdown to Chad Owens.

Toronto would not look back extending their lead to 14-3 on a fumbled punt by Ticats returner Tavoy Moore, Jermaine Gabriel recovered the fumble for the touchdown.

Justin Medlock closed the gap with another field goal, this one from 25 yards but Toronto responded with a 2 yard touchdown pass from Trevor Harris to Jason Barnes.

The Hamilton offense would finally get into the endzone near the end of the second quarter.

After hooking up with Luke Tasker for a 48 yard connection, Zach Collaros would go right back to the second year receiver for a 2 yard touchdown to cut the Argo lead to 8.

That was as close as the Cats would get though as on their first drive of the second half Mitchell Gale would find Darvin Adams for an 11 yard touchdown.

Toronto furthered their lead before the end of the third quarter on a 24 yard run by Jeremiah Johnson.

Hamilton seemed to gain a measure of hope early in the fourth.

After Justin Medlock notched his third field goal of the game, this one from 49 yards, Abraham Kromah took a Casey Pachall all the way back for a pick six pulling Hamilton within 12 at 35-23

However Argo’s kicker Josh Jasper quashed all hopes with field goals from 15 and 40 yards to complete the Toronto victory.

Hamilton QB Zach Collaros was good in his half of work finishing 13 of 18 for 196 yards and a touchdown.

He was relieved by Stephen McGee who was 4 of 7 for 49 yards, and Corey Robinson who was 0/2.

Isi Sofele led the Cats in rushing with 5 rushes for 23 yards, Luke Tasker was the leading receiver with 4 catches for 68 yards.

With the preseason over, the Ticats will trim their roster to the CFL mandated 46 man unit by 10pm Saturday.

Hamilton opens the regular season June 29 when they travel to Saskatchewan to face the Roughriders in a Grey Cup rematch.
