Two McMaster University professors have been added to the Order of Canada.
Dr. Deborah Cook of Dundas and Ancaster Dr. Jean Chamberlain-Froese are among 86 new members added in the ceremony by Governor General David Johnston.
Cook, a clinical epidemiologist, was named for her contributions to the improvement of global intensive care unit procedures and for her leadership in the creation of a national network for critical care research.
Chamberlain-Froese was appointed for her efforts to advance maternal health, notably through the creation of an academic program based in Uganda that promotes safe motherhood.
The Ancaster resident founded the organization Save the Mothers and is an obstetrician and director of the International Women’s Health Program at McMaster University.
