New Burlington lab aims to eradicate Asian Carp from the Great Lakes

A new $400, 000 federal lab has been unveiled in Burlington today, dedicated to prevent Asian Carp from taking hold in the Great lakes.

Haldimand-Norfolk MP and public works Minister Diane Finley made the presentation saying if the invasive species spread in local waterways, it could have devastating potential for the Great Lakes.

The lab is in the Canada Centre for Inland Waters on Lakeshore Road and is part of $17.5 million in federal funding dedicated to combating Asian carp in the Great Lakes that was announced in May 2012.
