The City of Hamilton is renaming an arena after former NHL player Harry Howell.
City Council has voted unanimously to rename the North Wentworth Twin Pad Arena – the Harry Howell Arena. It comes at a minimal cost, the city will spend $30,000 on a new sign.
The 81 year old Howell is a Hamilton native who continued to live in the city even during his time as a New York Ranger.
Many councillors spoke about the NHL great’s mark on the city, including his willingness to play Saturday morning pick-up hockey with Flamborough youth.
