There’s been a baby formula product tampering case and it includes stores in the Halton area.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a food safety warning after several bottles of baby formula were found with the tamper-proof safety seal broken in Mississauga and Brampton.
The tampered bottles of “Enfamil A+ Ready-to-Feed Infant Formula” were discovered at a number of Walmart stores in Greater Toronto Area.
Three complaints were reported in Brampton and Mississauga.
Officials say blue tape was used to reseal the bottles of formula which were filled with water and only contained formula residue.
The Agency says Walmart immediately removed the product from sale in a number of stores in the Halton and Peel regions and did not find any additional product that had been altered.
Anyone purchasing infant formula is being advised to examine the containers to ensure the safety seal hasn’t been altered.
If the product appears to have been tampered with, it should be returned to the store or thrown out.
