It looks like the citizens of Hamilton, rather than the politicians, are taking a step forward to say what the main issues are heading into this fall’s municipal election campaign.
The latest exercise in civic engagement is being called the People’s Platform.
The newly launched initiative uses a think-tank model, combining a small speaker series with mini-forums, where citizens can discuss and create a platform.
Organizer Norman Kearney says by the end of the process community groups will have a comprehensive set of grassroots proposals to present to council.
The People’s Platform will hold forums on the second Saturday, every month leading up to the October election.
