Fire in Hamilton’s Tallest Building

Hamilton’s tallest building was the focus of firefighting efforts after a blaze broke out on the 16th floor about the dinner hour last night.

Damage to the apartment is expected to be extensive.

Smoke could be seen billowing from a west facing apartment balcony at Landmark Place on Main East and Catherine.

The building has 43 storeys and the Hamilton Fire Service sent 13 units to the scene.

The lone tenant got out safely.

An HSR bus provided shelter for tenants.

The cause is still under investigation and there is no damage estimate as yet.
