Hamilton Police investigate stabbing near Dunsmure

Hamilton Police were called to a Big Bear convenience store at King Street and Gage Avenue early this morning to investigate reports of a stabbing.

The male victim attempted to gain access to store after being assaulted by an unknown person.

The 32 year-old victim kicked at the locked door, smashing the glass as he tried to get the attention of the clerk.

Upon seeing the injuries the clerk called 911.

Police were advised that the man was walking home from a friend’s house along side streets in the Dunsmure and Balsam Avenue south area when he suddenly felt a couple of slashes across his back.

The victim who was later taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries but was unable to provide a suspect description.

Hamilton Police are continuing to investigate.
