There could be more trouble with Hamilton’s stadium…this time it’s labour trouble.
The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiner Local 18 has filed a grievance against the city with the Ontario Labour Relations Board saying some work done on Tim Horton’s Field violates its collective agreement.
The local is alleging the installation of metal panels on the outside of the stadium should have been done by its members, rather than by a subcontractor.
The city says it didn’t contract anyone to work at the stadium–that was Infrastructure Ontario.
It also says the specific work in dispute does not fall within scope of the union’s craft.
The matter is set for arbitration.
