Brantford Police Officer Charged in West Hamilton Incident

A Brantford police officer is facing impaired driving charges in connection with the discovery of a man lying on a West Hamilton road in a pool of  blood, early yesterday morning.

33 year old Ryan Grant is charged with two counts of impaired driving.

A passenger fell out of a Jeep and hit his head on Emerson Road near Main Street West.

27 year old Joey Flaherty is still in critical condition in hospital.

When he was found, Flaherty had no vital signs and paramedics revived him on the way to hospital.

Court was told the friends had been out celebrating a win with their baseball team.

Grant has been suspended with pay and will be back in court on September 23rd.  (Hamilton Spectator)
