What a debut !
The Tiger Cats first game at the new Tim Hortons Field was nothing short of incredible .
ESPN superstars Chris Berman and John Saunders were there, the CFL Commissioner dropped by and there was ear splitting cameo appearance by a Canadian Forces fighter jet to signal the beginning of the Labour Day Classic.
The Tiger Cats and Argos didn’t disappoint either ; it was a nail biting, on the edge of your seat ending with the hometown team christening their new home with a victory.
But let’s not kid ourselves, the star of the show was the new stadium, Tim Hortons Field.
We all know the 11th hour drama that preceded the Labour Day Classic.
We got all kinds of scenarios of what to expect, including the jokes about hard hats and work boots, but what we saw yesterday was truly impressive.
Yes, there’s still work to be done to complete the top section of the west grandstand and a few spots need a some paint, but the overwhelming majority of fans I talked to were ‘over the top’ impressed with the stadium.
It was a long and winding road, with more than a few detours, that got us to this point.
But , we have our new stadium, and if the opening act is any indicator, it’s going to make us proud.
