There’s a new compromise on the table in regards to the redevelopment of the former Scott Park school site.
One year after rejecting a full partnership with the public school board on the construction of a new high school and community centre, city staff are now suggesting a land swap and partnering on the design of separate but adjoining buildings.
Director of Neighbourhood Initiatives Paul Johnson also reveals that the school would be three storeys in height and the recreation/seniors centre to be named for late Councillor Bernie Morelli would be two storeys, with shared parking at Parkview.
All sport’s fields would be relocated to a new park at the former Dominion Glass site, which was recently purchased by the city.
City staff are asking for approval to proceed with demolition of the arena and former school, and to start designing the senior’s centre.
