A drive to save lives is underway in Canada called 48 in 48.
The idea is to have 48-thousand conversations about organ donations in 48 hours, either directly with family and friends, or on social media.
The awareness campaign is a partnership with Global News, The Trillium Gift of Life Foundation and LiveOn.ca.
Gift of Life CEO Ronnie Gavsie says everyone should register to be an organ donor.
Gavsie says everyone who wants to be a donor is tested; so there’s no reason not to REGISTER HERE.
There are about 4,500 Canadians waiting for an organ transplant at any given time across the country.
A single donor can save up to eight lives.
According to the Canadian Transplant Society, an overwhelming majority of Canadians support organ and tissue donation.
But less than 25 per cent of people have actually made plans to donate.
