The City of Hamilton has settled a human rights case involving a transgender woman.
It’s after she was denied access to the women’s washroom at the MacNab Bus Terminal by a city employee last October.
The woman was told to use the family washroom instead.
As part of the settlement, the city will recognize people’s right to access facilities in accordance with their self-identified gender identity.
The applicant, who’s name has not been revealed to protect her privacy, said “Taking legal action doesn’t make the pain go away, but I hope employees will be more aware and respectful in the future.”
