Flying tires are the cause of a deadly crash in Niagara Region.
Police say it happened just after 9 o’clock Saturday night on Highway 20 near Pelham, when two driver’s side rear tires came off a 2006 GMC Sierra.
The tires and/or associated debris struck three vehicles that were travelling in the opposite direction, killing the driver of a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu. He’s been identified as a 62 year old from the village of York.
Two other people were injured and taken to hospital including a passenger in the Malibu who was airlifted to Hamilton and is said to be in “stable” condition.
The Niagara Regional Police collision reconstruction unit continues to investigate.
