Forget an hour at the gym — a professor at McMaster University says all you need is a minute of exercise a day.
Martin Gibala, a professor of kinesiology, says it’s actually a ten minute routine — where you do intense exercise for 20 seconds and then rest for two minutes — and then repeat two more times – followed by a shot cool down.
He says he compared groups doing that routine with people doing 150 minutes per week of continuous exercise.
Both groups improved their fitness level by almost 20 percent over 12 weeks.
Gibala says the one minute exercise is not meant to replace the gym or your regular workout routine, but it gives people options to consider.
It’s something you can even do at work.
