Well that was fun… depending on what, and when, you were watching.
Flipping back and forth on the TV — from the Raptors’ 2nd round series opener against Miami — to the Blue Jays-Rangers game — offered quite the roller coaster.
I nearly jumped out of my skin when Kyle Lowry heaved a half-court buzzer beater to force overtime against the Heat.
The unbelievable shot capped an incredible rally by the Raps, who scored 6 points in the final 20 seconds of regulation to send the game to OT.
With a break in the action, and with the help of rewind and fast forward buttons on my remote, I had time to check out Justin Smoak’s heroics at the Dome.
He hit a solo home run in the 9th inning as the Jays pulled even with the Rangers 1-1, and forced extras.
Then in the 10th, Smoak smashed a two run shot to give Toronto a 3-1 win over Texas.
I didn’t celebrate nearly as crazily on the homer than I did with Lowry’s half court heave — a fist pump did the trick.
Oh yah, back to the Raptors, who failed to carry their momentum into overtime as they were outscored 12-6 in OT and dropped Game 1 against the Heat 102-96.
The Dino’s are now 1-and-9 in playoff series openers, and 5 of those series opening loses have come at the ACC.
So much for home court advantage.
We saw it in round 1, if your best players don’t play like your best players, especially in the NBA, you’re toast.
