Hamilton’s Kia Nurse and the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team capped off its perfect season with a trip to the White House for the sixth time since 2009.
President Barack Obama welcomed the team to the executive mansion to celebrate the Huskies’ record fourth-straight NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship.
Nurse, a St. Thomas More alum, was the only team member to start every game for UConn. She was was fifth on the team at 9.3 points per game and was one of four Huskies to accumulate at least 100 assists.
Nurse Scored in double-figures 15 times, including a season-high and career-high tying 20 points against East Carolina on February 6.
UConn finished 38-0 en route to winning its 11th national championship since 1995. The Huskies have made 17 trips to the final four, including a record nine-straight, and the 11 national titles are the most in women’s college basketball history.
