In the ongoing fight against nursing cuts – Registered Nurses from Hamilton are protesting at Queens Park today.
The members of the Ontario Nurses Association say provincial hospitals have cut more than 14 hundred RN’s in the past year.
ONA President Linda Haslam-Stroud says front-line RNs are being gutted from hospitals as the bottom line takes precedence over safe, quality patient care.”
She says in a statement “research has shown that for every extra patient added to an average RN’s workload, patients suffer a seven-per-cent increased risk of complications and even death.”
The Hamilton RNs will attend Question Period in Queens and will be in the visitor’s gallery as a petition protesting registered nurse job cuts at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton is read.
