It’s not exactly David vs. Goliath.
So why are so many people giving the Raptors a faint heartbeat of a chance to beat the Cavaliers in the NBA’s Eastern Conference Final?
Two words, LeBron James.
Toronto won 2 of its 3 games against Cleveland during the regular season, but this is the playoffs and the Cavs are playing their best ball of the year.
Another reason why the Raps won’t win this series… two more words, Jonas Valanciunas.
You’ll hear those words in Games 1 and 2 of this series, but we won’t see the Dino’s big man in either of the first two games because of an ankle injury.
The Raps got a great Game 7 performance out of Bismack Biyombo, but he simply can’t be expected to make an impact on offense every game.
And while Toronto needed 7 games to eliminate the Pacers and 7 more to take down the Heat, Cleveland is coming into the East Final on 9 days rest after sweeping both the Pistons and Hawks.
Will the Cavs’ be rusty?
I doubt it.
With James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and company, there’s too much talent for rust to be a factor, even in Game 1.
As much as I’ve loved watching the Raptors in this year’s playoffs, the ride is about to come to an end.
Cavs in 5.
