A Hamilton police officer is being credited with saving the life of a man in an apartment fire.
Officer Chika Ikejiani was first on the scene of a fire on Market Street early yesterday morning.
Police say he crawled on his hands and knees and guided a man safely out of the 12th floor unit.
The man and the officer were treated on scene for smoke inhalation.
Officials say the fire started when a deep fryer ignited and the tenant couldn’t put out the flames with an extinguisher.
Damage is estimated at 15-thousand dollars.
