Donna Skelly spent the most money on her campaign to win Hamilton’s Ward 7 by-election.
The city councillor spent $30,500, about $200 under what she raised.
Third place finisher Uzma Qureshi raised the most money at $38,500 and was the second largest campaign spender.
Second place finisher John-Paul Danko raised $21,700 and spent $200 less.
Seven candidates reported campaign surpluses and according to city elections manager any surplus funds go to the city’s coffers.
All 22 candidates had to file financial statements by last Friday’s deadline.
