The search is already underway for a new Director of Transit in Hamilton following the surprising resignation of Dave Dixon.
Dixon resigned yesterday after less than two years on the job — saying he had been offered a new opportunity elsewhere.
City manager Chris Murray says they will be looking both internally and externally for the new candidate and the person must be an expert in all transit issues.
Murray says the new director will not only have to lead the city in the LRT plans, but will need to implement the ten year transit strategy that has already been approved by council.
He says the strategy looks at improving HSR service throughout the entire city.
