It was interesting to see some of the right wing media types lambasting the Prime Minister for taking a day off in his Japan trip to celebrate his wedding anniversary.
You heard the rants…. wasting taxpayer’s money… should be working for Canadians… blah, blah, blah.
Do we really expect our elected officials to be ‘ on the clock’ 24/7 ?
I can remember a few years ago when Stephen Harper was in New York, purportedly on state business.
But there he was on a Sunday afternoon, at Yankee Stadium watching the Jays and Yankees play ball.
I’m not a big fan of Stephen Harper’s way of governing, but, hey, let the guy have some down time.
We can debate whether or not any Prime Minister is doing what they should be doing, but let’s agree on the fact that it is a stressful and demanding job.
It’s ludicrous to expect our political leaders to be on the job every minute of every day.
A lot of the petty criticism directed at Prime Minister Trudeau for taking a day off comes from people who just don’t like the fact that he’s the Prime Minister.
Whether it’s Justin Trudeau or Stephen Harper or anyone else, let’s let our leaders be human and enjoy some personal time, just like all of us would like to do.
