A group of injured worker’s from Hamilton will join a rally at Queen’s Park today asking for a fair compensation system.
Karl Crevar, a member of the Hamilton and District Injured Worker’s Group says the system has changed over the years and not for the better.
“Under the worker’s compensation system you got compensation, rehabilitation, return to work.”
“Today it’ return to work, compensation is last.”
Hamilton’s injured workers say they are concerned about the number of cases being denied and the failure to tie compensation to the cost of living.
“Workers gave up the right to sue for fair compensation and it’s gone the opposite way” Crevar states adamantly as he waits for the rally bus to pull in along Barton Street East.
The rally at Queen’s Park will also push back against WSIB lowering employer premium rates.
A move injured workers groups say will save employers over $2 billion per year.
“There’s no value on life anymore” said Crevar.
“It’s all dollars and cents.”
