Three Hamilton firefighters are recovering after a multiple alarm fire in a Central Mountain townhouse Saturday night.
It started about 10:30 in one unit of a townhouse complex on Essling Avenue in the Upper Wentworth and Rymal Road area.
Hamilton fire spokesperson Claudio Mostacci says the fire started in a unit owned by the Hamilton East Kiwanis and it spread through the soffits into a room in an adjacent unit.
One firefighter was injured when a ceiling fell on him, a second twisted a knee.
They were both treated in hospital and released.
The third firefighter did not require hospital treatment.
The Red Cross is providing temporary accommodations for the two families impacted by the loss.
Damage is set at 400 thousand dollars but the cause has not been determined.
