Hamilton’s mayor is firing the latest salvo in the ongoing debate over support for LRT.
Fred Eisenberger says he has been tracking calls and emails to his office in regards to the project and he insists that the latest results are pretty clear.
Eisenberger stresses that 1,002 of the opinions are supportive of LRT, and the proposed route along King Street, while only 32 are opposed.
His comments follow a statement from three long-standing businesses within Hamilton’s International Village, which believe the route should be moved from King to Main since it has more capacity through the core.
The mayor believes it’s been well studied and researched, adding that it’s a little late in the game to be making adjustments and changes.
The Hamilton-Halton Homebuilders, meantime, are the latest organization to write a letter to the city in favour of the project.
