We could be celebrating the Canada Day long weekend with postal strike?
Is that crickets I hear?
Remember when a postal strike was a big deal, which would cripple the country, all for the labour dispute of a selected few?
Let this jolt your memory.
If it happens, this would be the fifth time for Canadians since the 1980’s, where mail delivery has been disrupted.
But an awful lot has changed since then.
Technology has broken this one time monopoly that has fallen to others who simply do it more efficiently.
It’s too bad all union run government monopolies don’t have to compete under the same scrutiny, like Canada Post and the majority of Canadians do.
It wasn’t that long ago that postal workers unions were more powerful than the teachers unions.
Not any more…
Here’s hoping we can get a handle on that power imbalance soon too.
