US Steel Canada is going to court to ask the bankruptcy court judge for money to keep some workers at their jobs.
The motion, due next week, will ask for a pool of more then 1.5 million dollars in bonuses for 35 workers to stay on through the restructuring.
That is in addition to almost 2.3 million dollars divided among most of the same people last year and base salary raises from another pool announced earlier.
The group includes those who fill essential management and operational roles as well as sales team members.
Salaried workers have not received a raise in two years and didn’t get profit-sharing payments last year.
