The name of the 66-year old man who died in a devastating fire on Stoney Creek Mountain has been released by members of his family.
They say that Harjinder Singh Bhullar died while trying to put out the fire himself on Fifth Road East near Tapleytown at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The man’s brother in law says Bhullar was watering a garden when the fire started under the back deck.
The Fire Marshal has ruled that the fire likely started when a cigarette was discarded under the deck.
Bhullar was found unconscious between the pool and the fire, with a bucket of water next to him.
He lived nearby on Fifth Road East and was watering the garden while the homeowner was away.
Still no word on a damage total.
