The federal government has announced a major investment in McMaster Innovation Park.
Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Navdeep Bains says the 12 million dollars will result in the creation of the Fraunhofer Project Centre.
Bains adds that products developed at the biomedical engineering and advanced manufacturing facility will have the potential to change diagnostics and treatment.
That includes new technologies for eye care, medical devices and cancer treatments. The project is expected to create 74 full-time jobs while resulting in dozens of collaborations between businesses and researchers.
Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberger says it’s the type of investment that is diversifying the local economy and making this “a desirable place to be”.
