The city is closer to an agreement with the Hamilton Waterfront Trust as it moves forward on a recreational plan along the west harbour.
The operating protocol for planning, design and implementation of new public amenities is expected to go before the next meeting of the city’s west harbour subcommittee.
The plan includes more boat slips, restaurants, shops and artisans. Ward 2 Councillor Jason Farr insists that the trust has “a proven history” of delivering 21 million dollars worth of projects along the city’s waterfronts.
Mayor Fred Eisenberger cautions that as the project moves forward, however, he’ll seek to ensure it is delivered in a “cost effective, efficient, open and transparent way”.
The recreational plans along Pier’s 5 through 8 are moving forward alongside plans for 16 hundred housing units on Pier 8.
