A fiery crash on the QEW in Stoney Creek created a traffic snafu for thousands of commuters Thursday afternoon.
At around 4 o’clock, OPP closed both sides of the highway at Fruitland and Fifty Roads after three trucks caught fire.
Police say one transport truck suffered a mechanical failure to its left front tire and sent it crashing into another transport truck and a pickup truck.
All three vehicles were engulfed in flames on the left shoulder sending thick black smoke billowing across the highway.
OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says all three vehicles were destroyed.
Burlington OPP Inspector Doug Fence says fortunately no one was seriously injured.
Police have since re-opened the QEW at the crash site.
