Flint beat Hamilton 7-6 to win the 59th annual CANUSA Games.
The athletes from Hamilton actually won six events to Flint’s five, but ties (in basketball and tennis) go to the visiting team.
2016 marked the first time that the games were held in the same city in back to back years.
The decision was made months ago to hold the games in Hamilton as Flint, Michigan continues to deal with water issues.
However Flint officials promised to host the 60th annual CANUSA Games next summer.
Flint now leads the overall scoreboard 29 to 26, with four ties.
In the annual mayor’s challenge, Hamilton mayor Fred Eisenberger beat Flint city administrator Sylvester Jones Junior 2-0 in pickleball.
Pickleball, a racquet sport that combines tennis, badminton, and table tennis, will likely be added to the list of sports for next year’s CANUSA Games.
