Kudos to the International Paralympic Committee, who issued an outright ban against Russian athletes in the upcoming Paralympics.
The explanation issued by the IPC, stating that the Russian system is rampant with performance enhancing drugs and cover ups is a massive understatement.
We used to just suspect that something untoward was going on, but a recent report, which included testimonials and documentation from whistle blowers from within the Russian system, verified what the world had always suspected.
The outright ban for the entire Russian team is severe, but, so is the crime.
I feel badly for the Russian athletes who don’t use PED’s , but the International Paralympic Committee was compelled to send a strong message.
Now, contrast that with the way in which the International Olympic Committee handled the same Russian PED Scandal.
When the proof of the Russian cheating received international attention, the IOC reluctantly issued a ban on many of the Russian athletes for the Rio Games.
But days before the Games began, the IOC rescinded the ban and most of the Russian team is in Rio and competing in the Games.
It begs the question, what’s worse, the Russian cheaters or the blatant corruption and incompetence of the International Olympic Committee ?
