The International Paralympic Committee has the guts the International Olympic Committee doesn’t.
The entire Russia team has been banned from competing in the Paralympic Games in September over the country’s systematic doping program.
This follows the partial ban of Russian athletes in the Summer games.
International Paralympic Committee President Sir Philip Craven says Russia’s anti doping system needs a total overhaul.
I wholeheartedly applaud the IPC’s blanket ban on Russia.
That’s what the IOC should have done.
But instead, the IOC chickened out and didn’t want to hold the Russian Olympic program’s feet to the fire after it was exposed last month by World Anti-Doping Agency investigator Richard McLaren.
Basically the IOC said it was fine with Russia’s doped up athletes, as long as the sport federations were okay with it.
Good on you International Paralympic Committee.
You made the right decision.
