Saying it’s time for nudists to come out of the closet, an advocate for a nudist lifestyle is asking Hamilton council to make the city “clothing optional.”
Donald Vermithrax says the mere sight of a persons genitals harms no one.
He’s written a letter to councillors asking them to end what he calls the “segregation” of nudists and allow them to live openly in the city.
He claims being forced to wear clothes is like being “forced to wear the chains of slavery.”
His letter will come before council on Friday.
But Mayor Fred Eisenberger is already throwing cold water on the idea.
He says the ability to go nude in public isn’t a municipal issue, it’s a provincial matter.
