The Police Services Board has voted to proceed with the new $24 million investigative services building.
Now it’ll go to a council vote in September.
Board chair and ward 12 councillor Lloyd Ferguson says if approved by the city, he wants shovels in the ground by spring.
The two-storey building would be built downtown in the block surrounded by Mary, Wilson, Catharine and Rebecca streets.
Its target completion date would be 2018.
The federal and provincial governments have both turned down a funding request for $14 million.
