Renewed concerns about staff safety St Joseph’s hospital’s West 5th campus.
The hospital says a staff member’s personal alarm malfunctioned earlier this month when a patient assaulted another and threatened staff.
The alarm indicated the problem was actually happening on a different floor.
Back in January, at least seven personal alarms failed to trigger a call for immediate help, when two nurses were injured while trying to calm a patient in the schizophrenia unit.
There have been two other incidents this year of the system failing.
St. Joseph’s Healthcare is giving the contractor responsible six months to eradicate the glitches.
