Hamilton Tiger-Cats receiver Terrence Toliver has been named a Shaw CFL Top Performer of the Month for August.
The 28-year old recorded 24 receptions over four games in August, totaling 500 yards and four touchdowns. Toliver, a Hempstead, Texas native, also set career single-game highs in receptions (9), receiving yards (183) and receiving touchdowns (2) on August 28 at Calgary. Through 10 weeks, Toliver ranks tied for second in CFL receiving touchdowns with five.
The Louisiana State (LSU) product played in 13 regular season games for the Tiger-Cats in 2015, the first of which marked his CFL debut on June 26 at Calgary. On the season, Toliver registered 48 receptions for 679 yards with six touchdowns and was named the Tiger-Cats nominee for Most Outstanding Rookie as a unanimous selection. He was signed by the Tiger-Cats on April 8, 2015 after spending time with the National Football League’s Houston Texans (2011), Detroit Lions (2011-12), San Diego Chargers (2013), and Chicago Bears (2013-14), and the United Football League’s Omaha Nighthawks (2012).
Toliver, who finished third in voting, joins Calgary’s Bo Levi Mitchell and Rene Paredes, first and second in voting, respectively, as this month’s Shaw CFL Top Performers. The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office.
