Neighbourhood groups from across Hamilton want to get moving on a number of community improvement projects and they’re hoping a fundraiser will help.
The Building Momentum Hamilton event, now in it’s third year, supports the neighbourhood small grants program.
City Manager, Chris Murray says every undertaking is designed to improve quality of life, offering McQueston Urban Farm as an example.
Residents wanted to find a way to increase food security in the area.
According to Murray, with some investment from the city and proper equipment the idea was made possible.
“All the sweat equity and labour is happening through the guidance of a farmer” he said.
Murray anticipates that the citizens putting their time into this initiative will soon reap the benefits of a healthy harvest.
The Building Momentum Hamilton fundraiser will take place September 16th at the urban farm.
Tickets are 60 dollars and can be purchased online.
