Hockey Night in Canada’s Ron MacLean is bringing his Hometown Hockey Tour to Hamilton.
Our city is one of 24 communities across Canada that will host the TV broadcast during the 2016/17 NHL season.
Hamilton will be the final stop on the tour.
The tour will arrive in Hamilton on April 8 and continue through April 9.
The free, family-friendly weekend will include interactive games and activities celebrating all things hockey, plus live entertainment, free contests, giveaways and a chance to meet NHL alumni.
Local minor hockey associations will also be invited to participate in the “All Stars Program” to receive exclusive access and perks at the event and the “Cheer Like Never Before” contest.
Across the nation, minor hockey teams record their best cheer and submit it online in the hopes of being voted into the top 5 in their community.
The top 5 Hamilton teams will cheer live at the event, with the winning team moving on to the national finals and a chance to win a grand prize.
“This hockey season, Canadians across the country will get to experience the game they love with the ones they love,” says City of Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberger. “Here in Hamilton, a proud hockey town, we couldn’t be more thrilled to share our hockey stories with the nation and to host this exciting event for the first time in our community.”
