The culprit of a “putrid stench” in the east end has finally been identified.
After months of complaints by residents, city officials have admitted the smell is coming from the city’s central composting facility.
Residents had been repeatedly assured that the Burlington Street East plant was not to blame.
One neighbour who started keeping a log in July of the stinkiest days, now has 25 entries. She has passed it along to city officials and the Ministry of Environment, which is also investigating.
Staff at the plant will meet with city officials next week to talk about possible causes.
