Metrolinx is acknowledging a difficult summer during which it failed to meet its delivery standard.
Chief Operating Officer Greg Percy tells the board of directors their on-time performance dipped to 88%, adding that the Lakeshore-West corridor was hit even harder than that.
Percy says a range of issues, some I-T and mechanical, were compounded by an unprecedented heatwave to result in “many unhappy customers” along the GO network.
He admits the result with some customers was a “loss of goodwill”, although Percy also stresses you simply can’t plan for many of the problems they encountered.
Future expansion calls for regular GO Train service to East Hamilton and Grimsby by 2021 and Niagara Falls by 2023.
