Hamilton Police and the Hindu Samaj Temple are welcoming the community to an evening of reflection with a special documentary.
Titled 15 years later, the production reveals the thoughts and feelings of residents and community leaders in regards to racism and the push to create a more inclusive city.
The backdrop of the doc is burning of the community’s Hindi Samaj Temple just days after 9/11.
Sandra Wilson, Community Relations Coordinator with Hamilton Police says the hope is that it creates dialogue.
“You open that door to listen in really meaningful ways.”
“There will be things that we hear that are disturbing” Wilson adds.
“We’re uncomfortable because we think this is a wonderful city but it challenges us to change and to move forward, to improve from where we are.”
The premiere of the documentary will be held on September 15th at 7 p.m. at the temple, located on Twenty Road East.
