Our struggling postal service continues to be a volleyball for politicians of the day while constantly ignoring the facts that have been staring it the face for years.
Before the last election Canada Post was completing the installation of the last super mail boxes into Canadian neighbourhoods.
About a third of the population still received home mail delivery that had been grandfathered in since the project started in the 1980’s.
The superboxes were installed way back then for the same reasons they want the job completed 30 years later.
Mail delivery is way down due to technology.
But that didn’t stop Mulcair and Trudeau from jumping on the home delivery mail wagon promising to stop supermail boxes, and continue home mail delivery for a lucky few who happened to live in the right hood.
And Trudeau did just that.
Fast forward to the promised federal task force that was assigned to report the obvious, confirms the corps best chance for survival is supermail boxes.
Too bad politicians waste so much money telling us what we already know, instead of providing a solution.
Too bad we fall for it…
