There’s more discussion about installing added lighting along the Red Hill Parkway and Lincoln Alexander Expressway.
Ward 5 Councillor Chad Collins says he will work to identify a funding source for a 100 thousand dollar study on “full illumination”, which will be considered as part of the 2017 budget process.
Collins says he continues to receive requests from residents for more lights, despite recent improvements including cat’s eyes pavement markings.
The original environmental assessment found that full illumination would impact the parkway’s migratory bird population and homeowners living along the roadways.
Manager of Engineering Services Gary Moore insists that any study on lighting should be part of a fuller environmental assessment on the future possibility of widening the LINC and Red Hill to six lanes.
